Meriden Hike

Please join Adrian Jones at 9:30am on Sat 6 Apr for a walk of about 7.5 miles. Adrian asks that we park and meet up on the Old Road near its junction with the Main Road through Meriden (see photo)

By popular request, Adrian will repeat the same route that he led on 10 Feb. The walk is in two parts; the first is north from Meriden and is about 4 miles long. It is mostly on footpaths, with some woodland, some short lengths of lane and 4 or 5 stiles. The second part is south from Meriden and almost all of it is on footpaths. For a map of the route, please see the 10 Feb webpage.

An Amble from Wootton Wawen

This walk will start from the Bulls Head, Stratford Road, Wootton Wawen, B95 6BD, at 10.00am on Saturday 13th April and will be led by Andrew & Helen Collis. It is approximately 4.6 miles.

From the Bulls Head the walk quickly goes onto rural fields and then follows the path of the River Alne. At the end of a long disused railway line it then continues for about a mile along a reasonably quiet country lane with good verges and visibility of traffic. It then heads across fields, crossing a live  but infrequent train line (take extra care though on crossing!). It then follows the towpath along the Stratford upon Avon Canal and then across fields coming out in Wootton Wawen opposite the ancient church. A short distance along the road and back to the Bulls Head.

The walk has no stiles. Some of the fields crossed have sheep and horses.

The Bulls Head serves mainly Thai Cuisine but does also have some traditional English Pub Dishes too. If you plan to stay for a bite after the walk please let Andrew & Helen know so that a table can be booked. For those with electric vehicles there are three EV charging points in the car park.
